The combination of shorter days, longer nights and foraging bears also makes fall a prime time for people and bears to encounter each other out in the woods or on the roads.

If your activities take you into the outdoors, get bear-prepared with our BearWise Outdoor Safety Tips Flyer and get educated in our article, Fall Tips For Avoiding Bear Encounters.

About Us

Taylor Creek is a great place to get outdoors with family and friends. Whether you wish to take your four legged friend down to the shores of Lake Tahoe (on leash please!) or go on a leisurely walk along our infamous Rainbow Trail to see if you can spot some trout swimming in Taylor Creek, this is the place to be.

Make sure to stop in our visitor center between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm for various Lake Tahoe souvenirs and of course to chat with our very knowledgeable staff. If you have questions about the area one of our staff is sure to have answers. Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located on National Forest land and is managed in cooperation with the Great Basin Institute an interdisciplinary field studies organization that promotes environmental research, education, and conservation throughout the West. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you soon!
