Let me start by saying that my family and I all got through yesterday’s rainstorm unharmed; and, so did the cabin🙂
However, the Rock River, which normally is just a brook this time of year, breached the banks at the end of the meadow, where the fire pit is, and flooded much of the meadow. Normally, the bank there is 3-4 feet above water
A lot of the meadow is covered by a thick layer of sand, the dirt road has some damage, and two Adirondack chairs and a rocking bench are completely gone.
Parts of a little lawn by the river, just down hill from the cabin, has disappeared 🙁
It was the worst rainstorm we have experienced since Irene. But not nearly as much damage and destruction as back then.
