Our family business began in 1978, when my parents bought a small delicatessen in San Mateo, California. There are four of us (three brothers and one sister) and we were still in high school at the time. With the little experience my older brother Nick had from summer delicatessen jobs - and the love and respect our parents taught us; we learned to offer an excellent meal at a very fair price, and
to treat our customers as part of our family. We all worked hard to get the business off the ground, and we worked as a family. Every year it grew stronger and stronger until there were lines out from both ends of the store! After about eight years at that location, we moved a few doors down to a bigger building where we could now do full catering and I could experiment with our own breads for sandwiches. I went around to different bakeries and hotels, and learned what I could about breads, pastries, cookies and cakes, which I then attempted to make at our shop. After a lot of trial and error, and very long nights, we achieved a product that we were proud of. We had the best sandwich in town, with excellent service. Supermarket owners were soon coming to the deli requesting that they may sell our breads in their stores - which we did, and this truly escalated. Years ago we grew out of our San Mateo location and purchased the old Fantasia Bakery building located in South San Francisco and we continue to expand to meet the needs of our customers. We have true, authentic San Francisco style sourdough bread made with the finest ingredients, without preservatives. We have learned from our customers that our golden crust and wonderful sour flavor cannot be beat. Our sourdough bread is naturally fermented and we guarantee our products to be of true quality. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share our Raymond’s Sourdough Bread, as well as some history on how our company came to be. Sincerely,
