Our last renters of the winter just checked out, left this great review and a painting!

“To break the mundane day-to-day of working in Boston we fled to the SunCottage. To say the past week was amazing is an understatement. We skiied for three days at Killington enjoying perfect spring conditions. We walked daily to the country store for muffins and coffee and enjoyed the sound of the stream as we worked. By night we relaxed in the hot tub and sauna and enjoyed an amazing dinner at the Ransom Tavern, the burrata was 10/10.

Our highlight was sledding on the back field. We took a work break and flew down the hill shrieking with joy - like children - just having a rare carefree adult moment.

You are providing people with a very special experience here in Vermont. Thank you!”

It's January, 2021 and we are in the depths of the pandemic. Inauguration day looms. My husband, Ian, and I are in Vermont for a respite from running our breakfast & lunch restaurant in Portland, Maine.

We stayed in the SunCottage for 5 nights and it's pure bliss. Morning exercise, hot tubs, lazy afternoon puzzling, cocktail hour, charcroute, fires at sunset. I don't think we even left for two straight days. The snow was beautiful.

We loved all the energy saving features at the house... very inspirational!

OK, a few more hours to relax and then we have to pack the car... the GRIND calls.

I put 150 gallons of whey on the chip pile last week and I'm glad to say it's still working great. Check out this shot of thermometer in the water tank, 118.9°

Arborscape came in like a whirlwind at the end of May and finished the landscaping. Four birches, 96 bearberries (Kinnikinnick), ferns and flowers galore. Especial thanks to Jack Rossi who made the landscape plan. Cy Benoit's crew did a fantastic job, the SunCottage is finally finished!

It's been six weeks since our last renters left and it's been quite a time. Pandemic lock-down! We had one late March party cancel, but had blocked off April and May for wall-building and the final landscaping. Darren McCullough, our friend from McCullough Stoneworks completed the wall yesterday:

“The sun cottage was amazing, the perfectly peaceful getaway for my fiancé and I. The home itself was immaculate and wonderfully built with minimalist Scandinavian design. Boasting natural stone and wood, magnificent windows and simple modern furniture. Overlooking a beautiful landscape with a cascading stream and mountains in the distance you are truly able to admire nature. Just across the bridge to the walking trails you can enjoy the stone fire pit that sits under the star light sky. The stars on a clear night really left is in awe and is a sight to remember.

The amenities were the cherry on top to this already gorgeous place. The hot tub, sauna work out equipment, and spacious cozy loft helped us relax and soak up every moment of our vacation. There is also super cool energy efficient elements to the cottage like a solar panel, Tesla energy storage batteries, up to date outlets with USB ports, a bottle wall that’s artistic and generates heat, even a solar tracker that casts the suns light.

Hunter and Jess were very welcoming and thoughtful hosts. The house was very clean and prepared for guests. A lovely welcome packet that had all information about the home, stay, and area. Small signs throughout with explanations on all the amenities and need to knows. The owners lived very nearby but never did we feel interrupted or unwelcome. This was truly the best place and I’m so happy it’s were we chose to get away!!!”
