Paradise in the Pines Episode 63: Crystal King, Potter
Crystal King was born to be a potter. Raised by parents who embraced the craft, she is now celebrating her 25th year working the clay as the owner of Crystal King Pottery in the world-renowned Seagrove community. In the fall, King has a passion for the Potters Pumpkin Patch where visitors can find an assortment of handmade pottery pumpkins, owl lanterns, and many other fall-themed pieces over three weekends in October.
To commemorate Great Trails State Day on Saturday, October 19, the CVB has partnered with King for a special one-day promotion. She has handmade 30 pottery pinecones, or as we like to call them "Crystal Cones" which will be hidden along select hiking trails in Moore County - very much like our spring Pinecone Pathways Program, but just for this one special day!
In this episode of Paradise in the Pines, King talks about her passion for pottery, the current and upcomingmust-seee events in Seagrove this fall and the history and future of the pottery culture in the nation's largest concentration of working potters in the U.S.
