A little travel story from our own Kara Cederquist today:
đ
This month I have clients headed to Quintana Roo and I wonât lie, Iâm wishing I were headed there too!
I remember in 2015 I took myself on my first solo trip abroad to the YucatĂĄn and Quintana Roo states of Mexico. It was the nicest thing I ever did for myself. Iâll never forget my last night there I danced til sunrise on a beach with some mates I had met the day prior. In the wee hours of the morning, I grabbed my backpack and hopped on a bus to catch a flight out. I remember sitting in my seat like woah did I really pull that off. I remember I felt very alive.
That was the start of something: a sense of adventure? Curiosity sufficient to overpower fear? A need to explore and get to know people of different cultures? It definitely wasn't luxury (I would experience/ sell that market til later on). What it most definitely did was push me out of anything resembling a comfort zone! I like that feeling.
I've enjoyed finding my way in all sorts of places and cultures ever since. I don't ask travelers to do anything resembling some foolishness I got into that one time in Mexico, but I do encourage that pushing yourself a little outside of your comfort is worthwhile. We are all different when we travel. We get to try on new personas, to be a little different in a new place, to get out of our routine. In doing so, we see another side of ourselves that we sometimes get to take home with us. What new perspectives have you brought home from your travels? And where do you want to push yourself to travel next?
