Battle of Cabin Creek Reenactment
Camp Copperhead in Spavinaw, OK, located 20 minutes from the Battle of Cabin Creek battlefield, will host the Reenactment of the Battle of Cabin Creek on May 2nd-4th, 2025.
Learn about the battle through the voices of reenactors portraying their ancestors, hear the cannons fire, smell the black powder, listen to the hoofbeats of the Calvary, the beat of drums, and the pounding of boots.
The First Battle at Cabin Creek was a short lived, but fierce skirmish that led the way for Union control over Arkansas and Indian Territory. The Union was traveling the old Texas Road towards Ft. Smith Arkansas with provisions and military goods that were necessary for the Union campaign. Cherokee Confederate General Stand Watie led his forces, including the First and Second Cherokee regiments, to attempt to ambush the supply convoy in July 1863.
Throughout the weekend, experience a self-guided tour of military camps and drills by infantry and artillery as demonstrators will present living history impressions of military and civilian life. Stroll Sutler’s Row for period souvenirs and enjoy a variety of food options.
The living history weekend will feature Civil War-era Battle of Cabin Creek reenactment on Saturday at 1pm, as well as Sunday at 1pm. Artillery night fire at dusk on Saturday followed by an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance.
Friday, May 2nd is filled with educational programs and demonstrations for students of all ages. School groups may call (918) 864-2662 to register for the event.
Pets are not allowed Camp Copperhead during the reenactment.
General Admission Tickets: (Saturday & Sunday) $5 per day per adult and children 10 and under are free.
Reenactor Registration can be made online beginning Jan 1st. The reenactor fee is $15 per person, firewood, and hay for calvary will be provided.

Camp Copperhead has an onsite shower and bath house, coin op laundry, cabins, RV sites and indoor/outdoor bar areas.
