We unfortunately have made the decision to cancel this event due to a water shortage throughout the park.

Join us at the Betty Dunn Nature Center and the Fall Creek Falls Lodge for our annual Christmas on the Mountain event.

At the Nature Center, there will be a traditional Appalachian Folk Christmas. Hours of entertainment for the whole family! We will have live music, traditional Appalachian storytelling & decor, crafts for the kids, demonstrations, and a needle-felted ornament class.

At the Lodge, shoppers will be able to browse through booths featuring hand made and locally sourced crafts to find the perfect gifts to go under your tree. Kids will have the opportunity for Breakfast with Santa (by reservation only), and folks of all ages can enjoy live music in the Lobby,

🚨**Updated 11.29.23**🚨 In August, Fall Creek Falls State Park was impacted by a tornado. Please see the below updates regarding the current status of park availability due to past storm damage.

Fall Creek Falls State Park is open for day-use and overnight stays with some area restrictions. The restaurant is open to the public under normal operating hours found at tnstateparks.com/restaurants/fall-creek-falls.

The following areas remain closed:
- Millikan's Overlook Trail (overlook is open, trail is closed)
- PawPaw Trail

We will continue to provide updates on the active alert section of our website at tnstateparks.com/parks/fall-creek-falls.

So Randy took a nasty fall today. Had a couple compound fractures in his ankles, cracked a few ribs and both arms amputated at the elbows. First picture shown dressed for the 4th. We had him up for a day dressed in swim wear.

Nasty storms came through and took him and multiple trees out in the area. The park is closed at both ends. We are hopping everyone is ok in the Spencer area. Power will be out for a while.

Cabins were not rented out today. They would have been stuck for a little bit if they were.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work-life balance.

You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All the while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed.
It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives.

Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

And know that 2022 prices are not 2023 prices.

It is crazy to me that we are just 12 miles from this beautiful waterfall!!
