Rabid bats?
This critter was getting some air miles in, flying around Stovepipe Wells Village.
Kind of a reddish brown color and bigger than what we typically see underground.

Always watching and always willing to lend a hand. This Chukar was caught in the barbed wire fence at the Rhyolite rail depot. When I saw it was still alive but exhausted from hanging upside down I climbed the fence and had to remove it from the barb and get it onto the ground.
After regaining its composure it did hobble off into the brush, hopefully not to be coyote or hawk bait.
This is the second time to see them injured hobbling on one good foot.
Death Valley National Park snow is finally here!
This snow is already gone but at least we were able to actually get into it.

Kit Foxes are not an everyday sighting. Maybe if you are lucky you have a den nearby and have some night time viewings of one of the Mojave's cutest critters.
We count ourselves fortunate that we didn't see just one but two of them. Maybe future mom and pop?

We have seen many injured burros over the years in the Mojave Desert. Finally we got to see this happening in real time.
These burros were spotted southeast of Beatty and when we were at Rhyolite ghost town, they had chased each other to there and were non-stop biting and kicking.

We spotted a migrating hummingbird. Looked like a Costas or Black Chinned Hummingbird in Death Valley.
