Robertson County is pretty picturesque, and many film production companies have taken note. We especially love watching music videos and noticing our beloved RobCo!

Here are just a few you can spot some Robertson County sites in:

-Ingrid Andress- More Hearts Than Mine, shot at the home of Lisa & Jon Arnold
-Dan + Shay - Steal My Love - shot on the Springfield Square
-Chase Matthew- Pull Up - scenes shot throughout Robertson County (private and public land)
-Luke Bryan - I Got A Beer In My Hand - shot on Free Dreaming Farm

Let’s talk about 13th Avenue, now known as Central in Springfield and home to multiple Black-owned businesses that started soon after Juneteenth.

One of the most recognizable establishes was the Chew & Chat, a music club that became home to many of the greats in Springfield - and even beyond. Jimi Hendrix - that’s right, THE Jimi Hendrix - would occasionally come play in this very spot. He’d later go on to recruit other legendary musicians, like Mr. Darnell, who was an accomplished jazz musician, specializing in the saxophone.

Mr. Darnell’s story goes that he was about to go to tour with Jimi, but just couldn’t leave his family for that long. Jimi would show up at his door asking - even begging him - to tag along... but in Springfield he stayed. (The last name may be familiar because Mr. Darnell’s daughter, Michelle Darnell, is now a principal in the Robertson County School system.) The Chew & Chat would later become Kings & Queens.

Who has some memories (or passed down memories) of this place? Share them in the comments below!

Although Emancipation Day is celebrated on different dates state-to-state (August 8th is Emancipation Day in Tennessee), June 19th is recognized nationwide as a day of freedom- the day where the last group of enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Today, we celebrate the resilience of the human spirit while recognizing the ongoing fight for liberty and justice for all. Happy Juneteenth!

What do June Carter Cash, Kris Kristofferson, a ton of sand, and a lot of locals making their acting debut have in common? The Last days of Frank and Jesse James movie, with scenes shot right here in downtown Springfield!

The movie brought in a host of celebrities, and also cast many locals. Local Barry Smith brought in the sand that surrounded the courthouse by at least a block each way, and helped remove it after.

Many individuals who worked in the courthouse at the time report June Carter Cash (Johnny Cash had a main role, so June accompanied him) being extremely kind and always ready for a nice long chat. Kris Kristofferson had his picture made with many of the employees, too!

Choosing the perfect wedding venue is key to setting the tone for your special day! As you start your search, here are 10 essential questions to keep in mind:

-Can it accommodate our guest list comfortably?
-What spaces are available for each part of the event?
-What's included in the rental (tables, chairs, etc.)?
-Do they offer catering or allow outside vendors?
-Are there any alcohol restrictions or corkage fees?
-Any limitations on decorations or floral arrangements?
-Is parking adequate for our number of guests?
-Is the venue accessible for all guests?
-What are the payment and cancellation policies?
-What is there to do in the surrounding areas for out-of-town guests?

If you're hunting for the perfect venue in Robertson County, you're in luck! This month, Explorers' Club is covering some of our favorite local wedding venues, from intimate and historic homes to beautiful heritage farms.

Our Story

SMOKE, SPIRIT & SOIL: Experience Robertson County

Just thirty minutes north of Nashville lay the rolling hills and charming small towns of Robertson County. The landscape itself invites you to sit back, breathe deeply, and savor the pace and peace of small town America. The legends hidden in the hills and caves draw visitors curious about the tales of the Bell Witch, America's most famous spirit. Tour the Bell Witch Cave or experience the story yourself during the Bell Witch Fall Festival, both in Adams, TN. In late summer, a fragrant smoke settles over the fields of the county as to***co farmers begin the process of smoking their crop in hundred year old barns, producing our world famous Dark Fired To***co. The area is loaded with history and culture, delicious food and drink, and opportunities for the whole family to enjoy true Southern Hospitality.
