Just got back from a trip to Alaska. There were 9 of us in the group and we had a great time. We did a land/cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line on the Jewel. Had a great time they took excellent care of us on both the land portion and the cruise. Alaska is one of the places you just have to visit, if you want to get a real understanding of the size and beauty that is our 49th state.

The very first ship Carnival sailed was the Mardi Gras back in 1972. It was converted from and ocean liner and as the story goes on its first sailing out of Miami it went aground. So, while they waited on the tide to come in, they opened the bar, and the party began. Someone made the comment that this is a “FUN Ship”, and the Legend began. The new Mardi Gras does not disappoint it is Fun from stem to stern. It is a big ship with over 5000 capacity, but there is plenty of room for everyone and every type of vacation you could want. Whether you are a foodie, love microbreweries or just want to lay in the sun and read a book, it is all there for you. We had a great time on our cruise this April to San Juan, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove. We are planning a group cruise next June 24th this time the Cozumel Plus itinerary. With a name like Mardi Gras, Let The Good Times Roll.

Went fishing out of Gulf Shores Alabama with Captain Mike Lungren on the Ocean Cat. We had a great time and Limited out on Red Snapper and Vermilion Snapper. If you are in the Pensacola Gulf Shores area and want to go offshore fishing, look up Captain Mike on Facebook at Ocean Cat. Him and First Mate Ben will work hard to put you on the fish, and they don't like coming back without a limit.

The entertainment on board us fantastic. We have heard them at a number of venues. The middle and lady in the right are from Russia the other is from Ukraine, so the people know how to get along if the government would get out of the way.

Namibia on the southwest coast of Africa, the former German West Africa is one of the best countries in southern Africa to visit. A stable government and economy with good roads and infrastructure make it easy to get around. I spent time in the Kalahari Desert near Arnos. The Kalahari is a large desert which lies in Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana. Southern Namibia also contains Fish River Canyon second in size to our Grand Canyon. The skeleton Coast lies along northwestern coastline, named for the many ships that were lost there. The Namib Desert considered the oldest desert in the world has some of the tallest dunes that can offer a great 4-wheel ride. Also, in the north central is the Etosha Flats and the Waterberg Plato two of the best areas to observe game. At the very top is the Caprivi Strip that falls between Angola and Zambia to the north. Batswana and Zimbabwe to the south
Namibia is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, with only 1.8 million people and almost half that lives in and around Windhoek the capital. The Bushman live as they have for thousands of years. If you have ever thought of going to Africa, I could highly recommend Namibia the people are great and the climate is good during their winter months which is our summer.

Oh! to be a kid again. On a Carnival Cruise we can all connect with our inter child. There is always something to do and something to eat for every member of the family. Ideal for a family reunion because we have been separated for too long.

Just a few of the pictures of our cruise, This was my first time going as a group and it was great. Only 8 cabins are required to form a group so it is available to a wide verity of organizations, churches and families. I meet a family that had 50 on the cruise from all over the country. They said it was great because there is something for everyone and you can get away from your group if you need some quite time. So if your ball team, ministry or family want to plan a getaway together let me know. Groups do get a better rate and some amminities. More to follow:
