YoungLiars is a loosely-knit collective of like-minded artists committed to creating unique inter-disciplinary theatre performance, including both original works and radically entertaining re-imaginings of the classics. We believe that magic is created through the fusion of different art forms and that bold simple theatricality will set hearts and minds on fire. We believe that the theatrical expe

rience is richer and deeper than simple voyeurism and that audiences, now more than ever, crave engagement and involvement, and want to be challenged rather than placated. Artistic Core:

Ok! What is the YoungLiars Bobby Burns Birthday Bash you ask?? Is it a play? (nope!). Is it a musical? (nope!) Is it one of those YoungLiars spectacles that are outrageously theatrical but thematically inscrutable? (nope!)

Robert Burns is the National Poet of Scotland. He wrote the Scots unofficial anthem, and also wrote "Auld Lang Syne." In addition to his poetry he wrote many songs - some sad and some B***Y. Every year, admirers all over the world (seriously, this guy is almost as big a deal as Shakespeare) celebrate his birthday, January 25, 1759, by gathering, eating, drinking, reading his work and singing his songs. Jeff Skoblow is the national poet of YoungLiars and has long celebrated this occasion with a public singalong of some of his bawdiest favorites. For the second year in a row, YoungLiars are holding our own celebration with Jeff leading the singing and the greenfinch serving up the drinks (cash bar y'all and the prices are reasonable!)

The Bobby Burns B***y Birthday bash is a fundraiser for the company ($10 donation for a ticket, online or at the door) and a chance to get together with our favorite folx for a night of drinking, singing and laughing.

Please come join us! Beat the cold with a night of good cheer!

"It’s a headlong dive into a fiercely black, wildly comic nightmare. It’s a venture into betrayal and menace and s*x and chaos, and into the unplumbed depths of the psyche. It’s Wolf Kings, the Young Liars’ remarkable new piece now playing at The Chapel."

"It's thought-provoking message is cloaked and shrouded in unusual absurdity..."

"Is Riding Hood as helpless and naive as the fairytale would have one believe, or is her red cloak a disguise for a young woman who is as cunning as her attacker?"

Join us this for weekend #2 starting this Thursday. All shows at 8pm at the Chapel. No late seating.

“Wolf Kings” is more performance art than a play. The snappy banter is often witty and funny. The vivacious movement is dance-like. There are elements that are peculiar, comedic, and dramatic. It condemns predatory behavior though spectacle by granting victims strength. Its thought-provoking mes...

Just in time for Halloween season, the Mother of All Bloodbaths! Titus Androgynous!! Lets jump back into the splash zone...

Did you know that Shakespeare’s most brutal tragedy is actually a comedy? YoungLiars aim to prove the point with a vengeance in this riotous reimagining of Titus Andronicus - where the Italian Commedia smashes into All-American Splatter, and Shakespeare comes along for the ride. Titus Androgynous is YoungLiars’ deliciously deranged deep-dive into the perverse passions and vaudeville violence of the Bard's bloodiest play.

Next up as we merrily roll along, a subterranean, existentially spooky YoungLiars detour into Kafka-land. We thought it was a one-character show, but Kristin Cassidy showed us otherwise! The characters in this Jeff Skoblow original adaptation - the narrator, and the Burrow itself. When we say spectacle we aren't kdding. This was as immersive and claustrophobic as a theater production can be. And we loved every minute of it. James Wulfsong on lights, Adam Frick-Verdine's soundscape and Gabe Taylor running the show hidden behind a burrow wall.

The YoungLiars retrospective continues. Our second production was a joint venture with our fabulous friends and collaborators from ERA and SATE Ensemble Theatre - "The Phaedre Phestival."

Each company mounted a one-night fully-produced original work concerning Phaedre; SATE did Phaedre's wedding, ERA did her funeral, and YoungLiars did her matrimonial consummation celebration (surprise!). It was a great night in the Centene Center For The Arts with a whole lot of cool folx. That was a lot of work for one night only. But it was worth it!
