More good news from the firelines today: Firefighters have nearly contained the remaining fires in Page and Rockingham counties. For your safety, please yield and give space to emergency responders as they continue suppression efforts.

Here are the latest updates as of this morning:

🔥 Waterfall Mountain Fire in Page County: 6,385 acres, 80% contained

🔥 Edith Gap/Serenity Ridge Fire in Page County: 1,148 acres, 80% contained

🔥 River Road Fire in Page County: 38 acres, 90% contained

🔥 Capon/Brushy Run Fire in Rockingham County: 2,559 acres, 75% contained

⚠️ Residents may see increased smoke at the Capon/Brushy Ridge Fire area as firefighters conduct strategic firing operations to bring uncontrolled fire to a more manageable location within fire control lines. Follow U.S. Forest Service - George Washington and Jefferson National Forest for current information about strategic firing operations.

Please note numbers are updated as firefighters report after their shift. Acreage of nearly contained and contained fires may increase due to improved mapping.

Do not fly drones near or over wildfire suppression efforts. The USDA Forest Service is utilizing helicopters to drop water on remaining hotspots. If you fly, we can't.

The fires are on the far side of the county from our cabins. Smoke is thick right now. Rain tonight should help! Here is the latest report:

Page County is monitoring multiple wildland fires in the areas of the Shenandoah Forrest subdivision, Massanutten Forrest subdivision, 211 West on New Market Mountain and E Rocky Branch Rd, Luray.

Resources are on scene from Virginia Department of Forestry and many counties throughout the state. Federal resources from the US Forest Service are managing the portion of the fire on the George Washington National Forest.

The VDOF is coordinating helicopters and airplane tanker operations to assist with airdrops of water onto the fire.

The Shenandoah National Park (SNP) is managing the fire on E Rocky Branch Rd with support from local and state resources.

Donations of food is currently sufficient; however volunteer fire departments are accepting donations of fuel cards and money to assist in their efforts per their page.

A shelter that was operated at Luray High School by the American Red Cross and Page County Department of Social Services will be on standby in anticipation of any changes. Currently, there are no residents sheltered at LHS.

Anyone needing non-emergency assistance as a result of these incidents should call the Page County Emergency Operations Center at 540-843-3357.

Anyone having a medical emergency or needs to report a fire threatening a structure should call 911.

We do not have an official count of damaged structures, or whether they are primary residences, cabins, or outbuildings but initial unconfirmed reports between 10-20 structures lost.

Questions regarding containment percentages and extinguishment should be directed to the Virginia Department of Forestry.

There are no reported injuries to citizens or personnel at this time.

We will be supplying additional information when it is available and posting it on our website and social media channels. For additional updates, please visit https://www.vaemergency.gov/.
