NO MOTOR SLAM!! It’s means exactly what you think it does! Hooked and caught each one of the Big 3 (Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish) in the exact same spot on the same trip. We didn’t even use a trolling motor because we used the power poles to hold us in place! What’s even cooler about this particular slam is that all three fish were caught on artificial and each one was caught on the same bucktail jig!! Way to go Ricky!!

Backcountry fishing in Key West is great for all levels of experience, especially for kids. The mangrove islands, flats, channels, and basins provide such an amazing variety of species to target while being able to fish comfortably even on windier days. It’s amazing how you can either challenge yourself or entertain yourself based on what you’re fishing for. Thomas and Issac decided they wanted to do both and they had one of, if not, the best kids trips I’ve ever ran. We caught a wide variety of species including snappers, little groupers, grunts, jacks, two Goliath groupers, a Cobia, and a baby tarpon that spit the hook as we touched the leader. I love being apart of trips like these knowing these families will talk about them for the rest of their lives
