Do you know how Glo got her name?

It seems like yesterday that she was born in the horse pasture at daybreak, the sun just peeking over the hill, birds singing and grass wet with dew. 🌅

I jumped the fence and ran down to see her. I had been waiting 11 months and 3 weeks for this, thinking up of cute, funny, punny, and elaborate names for my foal.

My only thought was: "what a glorious morning." 🌻☀

All of those previous names were instantly forgotten, and Morning Glory (Glo) became her name. 💛 🌼

Gilbert, this season’s smallest lamb, has stolen so many guests' hearts. 💙

His mom, Cher, was due April 19, which meant that I checked on her every 90 minutes (yes, including at night!) from April 17 on. Cher kept me on my toes, and the 90-minute intervals quickly shrunk to 30 minutes each.

Seventeen days post-due date — the longest overdue lambing I or my vets have ever seen — Cher delivered twins on May 6. Gilbert weighed in at only 6 pounds, while his twin Gladys was 16 pounds.

It was immediately apparent that Gilbert would not survive without human intervention, so he became a house lamb. In addition to his specialized round-the-clock care, Gilbert battled two rounds of pneumonia and a GI infection.

At nearly 6 weeks old, Gilbert has now caught up to the expectations of a 3-day-old lamb. If all goes well, he’ll return to the flock in a few weeks.

Thank you for the love and support, farm family! Gilbert can't wait to meet you.
