Our update on cherry blossoms now is May 8th- 15th. 🌸 Likely the 5/8 will be more starting in our southern orchards (Sturgeon Bay) and a few days later in our northern orchards (Sister Bay). We have had a little cooler weather which has delayed blossom time a few days since our last update.

Keep in mind, cherry blossoms are VERY dependent on the weather, so any major dips or spikes in average temperatures over the next two weeks can change this date range again. We will post another update again next week.

Interesting facts for any orchard nerds out there. This is the MOST critical few weeks in what the crop of our trees will look like. Any freezing temperatures in this time frame can kill buds thus resulting in a poor crop. We hope mother nature cooperates over the next few weeks so that we have plenty of 🍒's!

Quiet day at the cabin.

There may not be a more breathtaking sight than that of the unfettered night sky. Unfortunately, many people only see a fraction of the true beauty of a starry night when they gaze at the stars due to the light pollution from towns and cities.

Thankfully, there are few places in the U.S. where you can see not just the stars but the bright glow of other planets and the dazzling colors of the Milky Way. Better yet, some of those places are close to home.

Our very own Newport State Park is one of those places, with the coveted title of International Dark Sky Place from the International Dark-Sky Association.

The designation puts Newport on an exclusive list of places like Arches National Park and Death Valley National Park. And the darkness makes it the perfect destination for astrophotography, especially in the winter.

🎣 The PERCH are biting!!! Door County firefighter/first responder “Webz” says, “they’re biting!” Sawyer Harbor and Little Sturgeon are areas where ice anglers are reporting fishable ice.

“STAY OFF THE BAY” is what we are hearing from other anglers. Inside harbors and little bays are icing up better than the big water. 🎣

Please remember, NO ice is 100% safe!!
