DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS? Hancock and Washington counties recently received the designation of "Downeast Maine National Heritage Area", passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on December 29, 2022. The two counties now qualify for additional federal funding to support historic preservation, natural resource conservation, recreation, heritage tourism, new and traditional industries and educational projects. Planning to visit Acadia today? Be prepared for long waits and limited parking. Most lots and legal right lane parking are overly full. Island Explorer is running and available. It's still hot out so water, salty snacks and waiting till things cool down are all things to consider before setting out on a hike.
