Just some of the amazing fossils found at the 100 acres today during a visit from a gem club from North Carolina! Phenomenonal Ecphora, angustidens, auriculatus, hastalis and more!

Fossil Hunting is so different from Crystal hunting in that fossils are far more rare! Gem club visits are always interesting to see the way that crystal hunters show up with their rock hammers and buckets only to realize that they will be using small shovels and a ziplock for their finds! The scale may be smaller but the might is worthy when it comes to these ancient treasures of the creatures that once lived on this earth!

To those that enjoyed their adventure with us today, we hope we successfully turned a few of you into fossil enthusiasts and that today will be just the first of many fossil hunting adventures for you in the years to come!

Attention! We put the two test trucks of new material to the test this weekend and it did not disappoint!! This all new material is from an ancient river bed exposure and is absolutely loaded with gravel! Our clients spent some time digging through the Piles on Saturday and pulled put Megalodon teeth, angustidens, and horse teeth along with several other fossils!! Needless to say, we are pulling the trigger on getting more trucks delivered this week! Better book your excursion fast, new dirt fills our schedule up pretty quick!! This is for the 100 acre pit where you can dig natural formation or you can take your pick of Eocene aged material or this newest material we are just now getting in!!!

It's been a killer few days for our clients and today was no exception! We had 8 people in the hole between the 3 groups and everyone had a ton of fun getting to know one another and search for fossils! One family found half of a 5"+ Meg that we suspect the other half will probably be found nearby in the days to come and our solo guy found a nearly complete Stingray mouthplate!!! The 3rd group killed it with a handful of awesome finds including a pygmy s***m whale tooth!! Will post update on 100 acre pit finds for the last week tomorrow morning!

Gorgeous Megalodon tooth discovered by long time follower and first time client Caleb S a few weeks back at the Lightning Site!! Sorry for the lack of posts this past week! The Palmetto team was immersed in the excavation of a 40 million year old Basilosaurus whale skeleton that was 35 feet long!!! With the excavation over and the team caught up on rest, we are back at it and will catch everyone up on recent finds!

Saturday was a great day at the 100 acres with beautiful weather and awesome discoveries for our clients! We recently got in 10 new trucks of Eocene aged material from Harleyville, South Carolina and our clients got to spend some time digging through the dirt in search of Otodus shark teeth! This material is available to any of our clients that book for the 100 acres and will also be available for sifting and digging at our upcoming Adults Only Weekend - MayFest2025!! Monster 2.8" Great White and a 4" Megalodon tooth discovered at the Lightning Site over the last week and a gorgeous Chesapecten septenarius from the 100 acres!! Friday's dig at the Lightning Site turned up another prehistoric dolphin skull too with the assistance of one of our clients (he will be named on the 'finders' section for museum collection purposes)!! We will be excavating that dolphin later this week and will be sure to post some videos of the excavation!
