For months she's commented on our posts with her countdown until her trip to dig with us and yesterday that countdown finally came to an end! One of those clients whose enthusiasm for the experience spread to all of us and brought us all into the suspense with her! Arm load of awesomeness!!! About two weeks ago I got to spend the day digging with an absolutely phenomenonal woman who I am proud to call a friend! Together we carved through the gravel layers in search of fossils and by the end of the day we had unearthed a crazy amount of Otodus angustidens - the grandfather in evolution to the most famous shark of all time - The Megalodon!

The angustidens lived during the Oligocene Epoch between 32 and 22 million years ago and could reach up to 45 ft in length according to modern research. The lowcountry of South Carolina was once home to an angustidens nursery which makes our area a mecca for anyone wanting to scratch this species off of their bucket list!

To help us bring in a little bit more business for the slow season, we have decided to offer monthly specials from now until February. For December, we are offering up 1 free kid admission for any of our Excursions and 25% off a 2nd adult for any 2 adult groups for any of our Excursions for this month starting today (specials will be applied to new bookings only)!!

A few recent finds from Lightning Site this week!! We have had an amazing time digging through both the Wando formation and the Chandler Bridge formation in pursuit of Megalodon teeth and their Oligocene predecessor the angustidens!! In addition to that, we have recovered TWO dolphin skeletons from the site in the last 2 weeks and are chasing down a 3rd!! Remember, this is our slow season but we are still open! If you're wanting to get out with us and have some exclusivity to your excursion with perfect temperatures, this is absolutely the time of year for you!!

The Lightning Site did it again!
