Tucked between Town Hall and the Parking Garage in Downtown Summerville, stands the Guinness World Record breaking tea container known as “Mason”.
At over 15 feet tall, and able to hold more than 2,500 gallons, it makes for a tea-riffic photo opp!

It’s the first day of summer! ☀️
Did you know that SUMMERville's name reflects its history?

Located on a pine-forested ridge, it was first settled in the late 1700s by Charlestonians and others from the SC Lowcountry seeking relief from summer heat, mosquitos, and disease.

From May to September, plantation families from the Ashley River and coastal areas moved to the higher elevation, temporarily residing or "marooning" in the small forest colony, which soon became known as Summerville.

Some early residents were descendants of the 1696 puritans who founded the nearby colonial settlement of Dorchester, giving Summerville a heritage of three centuries.
