Check out A Taste of Soul tonight on Manning Avenue and then the annual Festival in the Avenue starts tomorrow with the parade at 10am! Lots of food, music and family-friendly fun!

EVENT ROAD CLOSURES/TRAFFIC ALERT: Please be aware that road closures and other traffic control and security measures will begin by 8:15 a.m. Saturday for the 2025 Festival on the Avenue parade and activities.
Affected roads include Main at Caldwell streets to Oakland Ave; and on Manning Avenue at Watkins to Orange streets.
The parade is set to begin 10 a.m. at Main at Caldwell streets and will travel south. At the end of the parade, officers will close a portion of Main Street from Oakland Avenue to Manning Avenue at Kelly Street for the remaining festival activities, which end at 4 p.m..
Drivers in the area are asked to use patience and extra caution as vehicles and pedestrians arrive and leave from the festival.
Traffic flow is expected to return to normal by 5 p.m.

SC Landmark Conference attendees visited Veterans Park to learn about Sumter’s proud connection to the Tuskegee Airmen. Four brave Sumter men served in this historic group, breaking barriers and defending freedom. Guests also got a preview of Phase 2, which will feature a full-size bronze sculpture honoring their legacy. This addition will serve as a lasting tribute to their courage and impact.

We’re also proud of Sumter’s newest designation as an American WWII Heritage City, recognizing our community’s vital role in supporting the war effort. Stay tuned for updates!
