I told y’all I had something big planned for Carolina. One of the ways we’re helping is a benefit concert at Bank of America Stadium on Oct. 26th! This concert took so much planning, work, and coordination from so many people. I’m so thankful to everyone who helped make this a possibility on such short notice. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday and 100% of all proceeds will be going directly to those who need it most.

Remnants from this 1919 shipwreck are fully visible again due to the recent storms.

We have been asked a few times what this is on the beach today. It is a ship wreck from 1919. The ship was the William H. Sumner, a 165-foot three-masted schooner toting phosphate, mahogany and ironwood from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to her homeport in New York. Several hours after passing Wrightsville Beach, the Sumner ran aground around 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 1919, on a sandbar off Topsail Inlet. Normally only seen a couple times throughout the year but due to a recent storm its completely uncovered.

A great time to check it out today but please remember, shipwrecks are protected by the state, so removing or damaging the remains is a violation of state law

The market will feature handmade gifts, décor, clothing and accessories, metal and wood works and food trucks. Salty Turtle Beer Company will be on site serving your favorite brews. Open from 12-6pm.

Live music will be provided by local celebrities, Fryd on the Boat starting at 3pm. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be available for pictures from 3-6pm. The Flotilla is expected to arrive at 6pm. Be sure to pick out your spot in Soundside Park to watch thousands of Christmas lights float down the intracoastal waterway. Grab your family and friends and get into the for this tradition!
