Next week the Worrell 1000 Race will make a brief stop here in Surfside Beach, as part of their boat race up the east coast.

The race started three days ago in Hollywood, FL, and finishes May 21 in Virginia Beach, VA.

Racers will finish the 7th day of the race here in Surfside Beach in front of the Holiday Inn Surfside Beach on May 16.

The parade starts at 2 p.m. at the corner of Ocean Blvd S & Melody Lane, and ends at Surfside Drive & Poplar Drive N.

Last night these beautiful storms were positioned about 30 miles to my north so of course, I had to pull out the camera. The lightning was nearly continuous and illuminated the billowing clouds beautifully. The reflection in the lake made it that much cooler! To get all the storms lit up, I used a long exposure.

Nikon D750
Nikon 24-70mm lens set at 24mm
ISO 400
Aperture f/8.0
Exposure time 10 seconds (the nearly full moon provided ambient light!)
