REAL ID changes are right around the corner!! Are you ready?
**Starting May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers flying within the country will need a REAL ID-compliant license or ID to pass through airport security.
**A valid U.S. passport also works and meets the requirement. Processing times for passports can take 4–6 weeks or longer, so now’s the time to apply if you’re planning to travel this summer!
**If you’re setting sail on a cruise:
You won’t need a REAL ID to board the ship itself, but if you're flying to the cruise port, the new rules still apply.
Beginning May 7, 2025, anyone 18 or older will need a REAL ID (look for the star at the top of the card) or another accepted ID like a passport or enhanced driver’s license to fly within the U.S. Make sure everyone in your travel group is covered!
PRO TIP:
A passport is the most versatile ID you can have. It's valid for 5 years for kids under 16 and 10 years for everyone 16 and up. With one in hand, your driver’s license doesn’t matter for air travel—plus, you're ready for international adventures too!
