Utilizing unrated hardware to suspend a batten, such as dog clips and swing set chain, is a sure way to have an accident. Use properly rated hardware such as shackles and proof coil 30 chain. Temporary rigging of soft goods should also utilize unwaxed 1/8” Tie line or sash cord.

sent in by a follower, [This was taken at a new-build. Every single point was attached to the roof truss using beam clamps and then towed one way or another. Many of them were towed in a way that would pull the beam clamp off if it came loose.] In addition, quick links are not rated for overhead lifting and the terminations are not proper. The first picture shows electrical tape covering a swaged termination that also has a random wire rope clip. Yikes!

These images were sent in by a user. The piece is old and falling apart, which is a big problem, but the rigging is also scary - a mix of wire rope without proper terminations and sash cord (aka fiber rope.)
