The 2019 Race to Alaska kicks off Monday (www.R2Ak.com). The starting line in Port Townsend, Washington is Ruckusing hard, the bands are jammin', the town is dancing, and the docks are alive with speculation. Will last year's champions Sail Like A Girl repeat in their estrogen-powered Melges Sled? Will team Shut Up and Drive outpace them with their quad-cycle pedal powered sled? Maybe it will be team Pear Shaped Racing and their 26' Cochrane-designed trimaran with canting rig and lifting foils that practically flies when the wind blows. Only 750 cold water wind and human powered miles to Ketchikan, AK will tell. All eyes are on the Tracker as the 5am start bell rings out for the rested and Ruckessed alike
No motor, no support, all the way to Alaska.
