You don’t have to go on a long hike to enjoy subalpine wildflowers at Mount Rainier! Numerous flowers can be found blooming along roads and sidewalks in areas like Paradise and Sunrise. This patch of scarlet paintbrush (Castilleja miniata) was found right next to the Paradise lower parking lot. While there are several species of red paintbrush in the park, scarlet paintbrush can be distinguished by its lance-shaped leaves while other red paintbrush have lobed leaves. What wildflowers are you observing in the park?

Remember to always stay on trails to avoid trampling the wildflowers! There are many options for that perfect mountain + wildflower photo from the trail (or parking lot!) Help ensure wildflowers thrive so that you can enjoy them the next time you visit.

For updates on what’s blooming where visit https://go.nps.gov/RainierWildflower

FRIDAY AUGUST 23rd at 7pm - We invite you to join us as we drink and exploit our younger selves for your entertainment! The idea is simple: folks read on stage from their worst adolescent writing, including middle school diaries, high school poetry, unsent letters, etc.

Founded in 2005, the Salon is cathartic for readers and hilarious for the rest of us. Everybody wins when it comes to embarrassment!

Our Story

We create honest experiences. We construct cities with color—murals, sculptures and glass art.

We get down to earth with mountains, lakes, land and sea.

We embrace the unknown and leap headfirst, fearlessly. We test new flavors, relish rhubarb, harness hops and make a splash with spirits.
