Our first port of call was Roatán, Honduras. We booked a direct excursion with Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout!

We were picked up at the port and taken to their sanctuary by Diane. She showed us around the island and told us all about life on the island. (The schools there run from February to November as the rivers on the mainland tend to flood in the fall and make it more difficult for kids to get to school.) Luke provided an amazing tour and encounters with the sloths, monkeys, and birds.

After we were done at the sanctuary, she took Aria on to her zip lining adventure and made sure we were escorted to a private beach for some R&R. Once we had enough sun and sand, we were ferried back to the sanctuary and Ms. Diane escorted us back to the ship.

Last Saturday we embarked on a 7 night adventure with Royal Caribbean. I was honestly a bit nervous to be “stuck” on a cruise ship for that long with my family sharing 180ish square feet, but everything went swimmingly.

Our first two days on board were at sea as we sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Roatan, Honduras. We soaked up the sun on the pool deck, enjoyed our own balcony, took in a RCL production show, and celebrated Nicholas’s 45th birthday with a sweet birthday package that I pre-ordered for our stateroom.

Living in Florida for the last 18 years, I have spent a lot of time at Disney and Universal.
