If you are a nature lover looking for a tranquil, serene and peaceful location nestled in the middle of woodlands yet less than 2 miles from the Capitol and FSU and all major shopping in Tallahassee then you have found the right place! My goal, as the owner of Woodlands Guesthouse, is to give you, our valued guests, the most authentically natural and organic experience possible. The entire secluded studio location with its own private balcony gives the space a wondrous tree house feel overlooking woodlands comprised of palm trees, pines, and live oaks with its hauntingly beautiful moss hanging down and even a lake. Taking a small walk to the lake on the back of the guesthouse property you may spot otters, Canadian geese, white ducks, a Kingfisher and of course, fish. With its lush tree and rich flora setting including wild ferns, our woodlands bring out all manner of butterflies from vibrant orange and yellow to light blue and even black! We also get literally hundreds of dragonflies in the summer. In late spring just as it turns dark outside you can spot fireflies on the evenings. We also have a family of owls and you can hear the baby owls in the trees and their parents (mature owls) in the early evenings. They fly very close by overhead and we have even spotted them on the fence next to the stairs of the guesthouse. We also have hawks and hummingbirds; hence you may spot a few hummingbird feeders on the property. If you are a bird lover, then you will greatly enjoy the vibrant red cardinals that have made Woodlands Guesthouse property their own home. One of my husband's personal favorites is the squirrels that frequent the property throughout the day. They love to climb up the outside of the screened in 40 foot pool next to the guesthouse in a sort of Mission Impossible style, often upside down, arms and legs spread wide apart hoping against hope that a drop of their sweat doesn’t fall to the ground. It really brings a smile to all who see them. My husband and I are very passionate about living as organic and natural a lifestyle as we can (and we realize there is always room for improvement) but to that extent, we have tried to make Woodlands Guesthouse as natural and organic an environment as we can. You will find that all toiletries in the property are either certified organic or completely natural. All of our products we provide for our guests are purchased from New Leaf Coop Market, an organic supermarket, which is located less than a mile away. And, of course, it wouldn’t be right not to visit Florida without having a pool to relax in and cool down. The Woodlands Guesthouse does not disappoint! Throughout most months of the year (late spring to late autumn) our pool is not only open to our guests but heated to a wonderfully relaxing 85 degrees so you can literally walk right into it. The true beauty of the pool is that it is completely screened in and this screened in area is also connected to a shaded seating area for you to relax, read a book, eat or drink or just sit back and take in the surroundings without any bugs flying past to distract. It features a kitchenette, bistro dining set , your own private balcony with comfortable seating overlooking woodlands and a lake, TV with directv, free high speed wireless internet, walk-in shower, wood flooring throughout, use of private screened in 40 ft pool and large shaded seated area, private entrance, exit and driveway. Woodlands Guesthouse is located in the SE side of Tallahassee, about 2 miles from FSU. It is located in the Woodland Drives neighborhood, winner of the Best Neighborhood in Tallahassee in 2010 and 2009. Much of our neighborhood is part of the Myers Park Historic District, comprised of 362 acres with 229 parcels of land. Getting around
The airport is 6 miles away. The 1-10 is about 5 miles away via Monroe Street. There is plenty to see and do that is within walking distance. Other things to note
The kitchenette comprises of a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, set of 4 dinner plates, salad plates, bowls and mugs. It also contains set of 4 tumblers, high glasses and wine glasses, a bottle opener as well as a set of silverware (for 4). The room also has a hair dryer, iron, ironing board, toilet paper, towels, beach towels, sheets, organic and/or all natural toiletries including: hand soap, 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, body lotion, body wash. We also supply 2 complimentary bottles of water, a snack and coffee and tea with raw organic sugar. We have adopted a small rescue dog but this is on us, the owner's property only, and has never been in or near the guesthouse property. We happily welcome guests from all walks of life.
