It’s incredible to witness the power of our Moose 🫎 organization when you see us work together to celebrate life and raise money for our core mission of Moose charities.

Our goal for these cruises 🚢 are to have wonderful members from across the country come together to celebrate life, meet members from many different lodges across the nation, share ideas on how to do the Moose 🫎 better, and to raise a lot of money 💰 together for Moose charities!

We can’t thank Lisa and Jim Cordeiro enough for their incredible work and expertise to make these events such a huge success.

Please remember, we are a fraternal not-for-profit membership organization that relies on members to be volunteers and assist to do great human work together to make the world a better place by doing good together!

Please bring your amazing Moose 🫎 spirit from your region and those license plates to share and sign.

Our pre-cruise meet and greet is on February 14, 2025 (5pm - 10 pm) and is being hosted by the wonderful Merrit Island lodge, and we can’t thank them enough for providing us with an amazingly large facility to hold such an awesome 👏 event!

If you're a first-time cruiser, here are some tips to help you make the most of your experience:
1. Plan and Research Ahead
Know Your Ship: Each cruise line has different ships with unique amenities. Research the ship you'll be sailing on to understand its layout, restaurants, activities, and other services.
Excursions: Check out excursions at the ports you'll be visiting in advance. Some sell out quickly, so it’s good to book early if you have your heart set on specific activities.
2. Pack Smart
Essentials: Don’t forget to pack things like sunscreen, medications, and a power strip (some ships have limited outlets and also restrictions on the type of power strip you can bring).
Dress Code: Some cruises have formal nights, so bring appropriate attire. Even on casual nights, some ships have dress codes for dining.
Luggage: Pack a day bag for embarkation day with essentials like swimwear, sunscreen, and medications and even a change of clothes, as your luggage may take some time to reach your cabin.
3. Understand the Dining Options
Main Dining Room vs. Specialty Restaurants: Many ships offer a variety of dining options. The main dining room is often included, but specialty restaurants may have an extra cost. Make reservations early for the best experience.
Buffets and Snacks: There are usually buffets, snack bars, and 24/7 food options. Don’t worry about going hungry between meals.
4. Take Advantage of Onboard Activities
Daily Schedule: Ships typically have a daily newsletter (or an app) detailing activities, shows, and events. Check it every day to plan your time.
Entertainment: From Broadway-style shows to comedy clubs, cruises offer tons of entertainment. Consider making reservations or arriving early for popular shows. (there is usually a standby line if you can't get reservations)
5. Use Your Time Wisely in Port
Explore Smartly: When the ship docks, decide if you want to explore independently or join a shore excursion. Be mindful of time—remember to return to the ship on time!
Local Currency: While credit cards are widely accepted, it can be useful to have some local currency for small purchases or tips, but most local businesses and vendors will happily take US dollars in the Caribbean.
You might want to notify your credit card company that you will be in the Caribbean. You also may want to check to see if there will be any conversion fee's from US dollars to the local currency of the Island you are making purchases on.
6. Take Care of Gratuities
Tipping: Gratuities are often automatically added to your bill, but if not, be prepared to tip your room steward, dining staff, and bartenders. Make sure you know the cruise line's policy on tipping.
7. Stay Healthy and Hydrated
Motion Sickness: If you’re prone to seasickness, consider bringing remedies like seasickness bands or medication (consult your doctor for recommendations). If you don't bring them, you can sometimes get Dramamine at guest services. I've also heard ginger candy, ginger ale, green apples and crackers can help if you find yourself seasick.
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water, especially with the sun and saltwater exposure. Ships often sell bottled water, but it can be expensive, so bring your own if possible.
You may want to bring some basic medicines. Tylenol, Advil, Band-Aids, Tums, Benadryl, etc. You can sometimes get basics onboard but at a price $$$,
8. Be Flexible and Relax
Things May Not Go Perfectly: Cruises are a lot of fun, but unexpected things can happen (e.g., weather delays or changes in schedules). Keep an open mind, and don’t let minor setbacks ruin your experience.
Enjoy the Atmosphere: Take time to enjoy the ship’s amenities like the pool, spa, or even just the views from the deck. It’s all about relaxation!
9. Stay Safe and Secure
Safety Drills: Make sure to attend the mandatory safety drill at the beginning of the cruise. It’s important for your safety, and you’ll get familiar with evacuation procedures.
Lock Up Valuables: Use the cabin safe to store valuables such as passports, extra cash, or jewelry.
10. Don't Forget to Have Fun!
Embrace the Experience: Cruising is an incredible way to relax, visit new places, and enjoy an all-inclusive vacation. Soak it all in and enjoy the ride!
These tips will help you ease into your first cruise and make sure you have an unforgettable experience!

Good morning Moose Cruisers! Happy New Year!
If you are sailing with us on this year's or next year's NCL Moose Cruise hosted by Jim and Lisa and you downloaded the old NCL app, you may notice it is no longer available, and we all need to update to the new one. Hopefully the glitches are fixed on the new app. You use the same username and password when signing into the new one. I updated mine today and it was quick and easy!

Sea you next month!
Lisa and Jim
