To be honest, we never intended to start a candle business, we already have a 9 to 5 job. We also didn't know a single thing about candle making. But thanks to a new puppy and a carpet rug, Cameoscentsations was born. We started out in an apartment building with old carpeting but with a monthly carpet cleaning included. So we never fully realized how scents can travel around inside, until the carp
ets were gone and we moved into a small home with ceramic tile flooring. The first month was good, we hardly noticed any smell, that is until the puppy started rubbing her head on the new 5 X 7 foot rug while she's playing with her toys or after she comes in from the outside and goes directly to the rug. I'm sure all pet owners know this, a wet puppy and carpet is never a good combination for smells. You know how when someone who doesn't own any pets, comes over to your home and the first thing they would mention is "What's that smell"? Or at least after they left. Well, since we're so used to having pets, we didn't notice those smells until we came home late one night after having dinner with friends. The living room had this combination of unpleasant odors all concentrated on the rug. We tried some brand name powdered carpet/pet odor eliminator, fabric refreshers and plug in fresheners in every room. I even went as far as sprinkling her behind with baby powder and using dog deodorizing sprays. But they were all temporary solutions. Because the puppy enjoyed the rug and we love it also, you know what that means, the old rug had to go and in came a new rug. But the problem continued, monthly routine of replacing air freshener plug ins refills and spraying air neutralizer all over the house. To the point we just couldn't deal with it and the rug just had to go. Now comes the difficult part, the rug was gone but the smell remained, despite the puppy's monthly grooming and bath. Now I really love the quick, easy way of using air neutralizer sprays but I noticed, it left a lingering chemical scent in the air and sometimes it can be overwhelming to bear. So we wanted something healthy for the environment and safe for us to breathe in but still maintain strong enough of a scent without knocking us unconscious. We checked online and local big brand name stores, some of the scents were amazing but didn't burn as well or smell as strong when it's lit. Same goes for the reed diffusers, some wouldn't smell as good as the candles forms or you just simply couldn't smell it until you get really close up. So after a long discussion for a few weeks, "Cameo Scentsations" was born. One year in, and we're still learning something new every time we are testing out new candle scents or reed diffusers. Did you know, for every different fragrance oil, you would need to test to make sure it's the right wick so it doesn't burn out your candles faster and will maximize the scent output. I'm not here to suggest to you that soy candles and reed diffusers are your only solutions to solving odors inside your home but personally, it sure does make the odors less noticeable and smells a lot nicer for us in our home. I'll admit we're a small company but that's fine with us. It just means we'll work harder and pay more attention to our candles as they are being made to order. Our candles aren't as fancy or have over 4 to 8 different scents infused in them. Our candles are like us, simple yet distinct. Scents that reminds you of someone in your life, a familiar childhood scent or something that reminds you of home. I hope you will like our products and enjoy them as much as we enjoy creating them.
