With recent events and drivers forgetting that Tavares is considered a “golf cart community”… Let’s remember these rules 👀

▪️Golf carts ARE ALLOWED to operate on roads that have a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less

▪️they ARE ALLOWED to also be on streets like Dora Avenue, Dead River Road and Alfred Street (within the Community Development Area, also known as downtown)

▪️in the city of Tavares, you MUST BE at LEAST 16 years of age to operate a golf cart (Legit 16, not 16 at heart..🤦🏼‍♀️)

▪️Golf Carts are NOT ALLOWED on sidewalks or bike paths 🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️

▪️ Passing a moving vehicle on a double yellow is ticketable, this includes passing a golf car! We know golf carts are slow and it can be “annoying”, but we can assure you that life, does in fact, go on and you will eventually make it to your destination. 🙃
Golf cart drivers: If you so wish, you can move to the side and off the roadway to allow cars to pass. However there’s nothing that says you have to….Sometimes it’s just courteous.

▪️if operating a golf cart at night, ensure the golf cart has all of the appropriate and functioning lights needed to be visible.

▪️YES, you CAN get a DUI on a golf cart… Its happened, a lot.

▪️golf carts can cross US Hwy 441 at the Saint Claire Abrams/Banning Beach light. They can also cross over SR 19 at the Dead River Rd light. They are NOT ALLOWED to cross US Hwy 441 or SR 19 anywhere else.

🎄Join us for our Candyland Christmas - Downtown Tavares on December 7th!

It all begins at 5:00 PM with our Christmas parade on Ruby Street and Main Street, followed by plenty of fun, activities, and holiday cheer to put you in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy live entertainment, “ice” skating, photo op spots, snow storms, living toy soldiers, stilt walkers, food vendors, and much more.

🎅 Don’t forget the highlight of the evening: visits from Santa! Santa will arrive by seaplane at 7:00 PM!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: To ensure the safety, quality, and timeliness of the parade, the following changes have been made this year:

❄️The parade will be limited to the first 175 vehicles entered, so please return your application promptly.
❄️New start time of 5:00 pm
❄️All commercial entries will be limited to a max of 2 vehicles per entry.
❄️All non-commercial entries will be limited to a max of 10 vehicles per entry.
❄️Golf cart community entries will be limited to a max of 25 carts per entry.
