The City of Tehachapi is launching the Reindeer Rush Scavenger Hunt on Friday, November 29, 2024. This festive event encourages residents and visitors to explore Tehachapi’s shops and attractions during the holiday season.

The Shop Small Passport can be picked up at any of the following locations:

• City Hall (115 S. Robinson St.)

• Kern County Library, Tehachapi Branch (212 S. Green St.)

• Tehachapi Depot Museum (101 W. Tehachapi Blvd.)

• Tehachapi Visitors Center (200 W. Tehachapi Blvd.)

Starting November 29, participating businesses will display a hidden reindeer figurine somewhere in their stores. Scavenger hunters will receive a list of participating businesses and search for the reindeer at each location. Once a reindeer is found, hunters can get their Shop Small Passport stamped by the business.

Participants who collect at least five stamps can redeem their passport at City Hall to be entered into a raffle for gift baskets containing gift cards and merchandise from participating businesses. Each set of five stamps collected earns an additional raffle entry. The scavenger hunt ends on Monday, December 23, 2024. Raffle winners will be announced on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Who’s ready for the parade?!

The Christmas parade is right around the corner and we are getting really excited for this year! The deadline to enter the parade is Nov 25th, so please turn in applications this week! You can email [email protected] for an application or you can pick them up at the office (209 E Tehachapi Blvd). This year, we will enjoy a new route that will bring the floats by the beautiful Train Depot Museum on Tehachapi Blvd. The parade will begin at Pauley and F St. It will turn left on Robinson and left again on Tehachapi Blvd and will end near the Train Depot Museum, where Grand Marshal Santa Clause will light the Christmas Tree. This event truly kicks off the holiday season here in Tehachapi. Don't miss it!

It’s here! The official map for the Downtown Tehachapi Treat Trail has arrived!
Trick or treat safely from businesses to business on Halloween night from 4:30-7 in downtown Tehachapi. All ages are welcome, just dress up! 🤠

Please remember this is all volunteer work and we’d like to thank each and every business for coming together to make this an amazing event for our community year after year.

We’re still asking for donations of candy that will be spread throughout the businesses. Most of these businesses are spending $200+ on candy for the night. If you are able to help, even one bag goes a long way.

Have you visited Tehachapi and wondered what these odd looking benches are? These benches are a tribute to Tehachapi wind energy and made from recycled turbine blades. They were manufactured by a company called Canvus and donated to the City of Tehachapi thanks to a contribution from a local renewable energy company. You can find them at the American Legion on F Street, the Visitors Center, TPD pickleball courts and a few more locations coming soon. Scan the QR on the benches for the unique story about each bench’s origin.
