Bigg’s orca off of CA
We primarily focus on Rocky Mountain critters here at wild things but we also love to experience the wild world beyond Wyoming. This was an amazing opportunity to see a variant of orca that specializes in preying on other whales and marine mammals. The difference between males and females is very clear by the end of the clip.
This week in Grand Teton and Yellowstone….
It’s a great time to watch Elk in Grand Teton NP…
Here is one the parks more well know bulls. He was seen looking for females in his happy place near Jackson Lake.
It has been a lovely week with the Wild Things in Wyoming…
Kids are going back to school and the summer road construction is wrapping up…
Now is a great time to visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone!
This week in Yellowstone, six of our clients got to experience starting a huge bear jam from scratch. We spotted this bear as a small brown spot, he came closer and eventually swam over to an island filled with delicious Cow Parsnip flowers.
Which is more uncomfortable? The demanding jabs of a nursing moose calf or being covered in flies…
I’ll let you decide

A common question that we get as wildlife guides is ‘what is your favorite animal?’ It is an impossible question but walruses have always been remarkable to me. This was last week while guiding for Lindblad/Natgeo in Norway’s arctic. Look carefully for the calf with mini tusks!
Bison have been returning to Yellowstone’s Hayden Valley for the annual rut. As females come into season over the next few weeks, the Bison viewing will turn from good to epic!!!
See you there…
Here are some coyote puppies we observed on this mornings Grand Teton safari. The puppies were very playful and and could be seen tossing around the leg of a baby elk!
Some iPhone imagery from this week’s multi day Safari which had wonderful sightings every day and wonderful guests to share grand Teton with. Let us know how we can build your ideal wildlife adventure!
This morning in Jackson Hole! Exceptional morning for wildlife and scenery!
Bison have begun calving and will continue to do so for the next several weeks… here is a two day old Bison calf drinking more milk than his mother can currently produce…
Its's time to book your trip to Jackson Hole...
The Beavers were busy in Grand Teton NP this week. Ever wonder how they carry food from the tree to the river?
I’ve been hoping to see this for twenty years!!! Steamboat geyser, the largest geyser in the world, and we had a front row seat all to ourselves! One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. in partnership with natural habitat adventures. #naturalhabitatadventures #hotelterrajackson #tetonmountainlodge #yellowstone
Today's 'Wild Things' multi-day safari won the wildlife lottery when we were lucky enough to watch one of the most amazing predatory behaviors in the world. Red foxes hunt differently than other canines in the winter and, if snow conditions are perfect, dive head-first into the snow in pursuit of rodents underneath the snowpack. This is the first time that I was able to video this thanks to a nice Swarovski scope and iphone 13.....loved every single second of it!! I've had opportunities to photograph this behavior, but I'm so glad that I chose to grab the scope/phone today instead of my nikon gear. This is our current group's favorite memory of many nice wildlife moments in Yellowstone this week.

The many ranches found in southern Jackson Hole create opportunities for Elk that are willing to think outside of the refuge…
Moose are one of our favorite large mammals to share with our guests on any safari. Last week we had exceptional sightings of lots of big mammals including this footage from the other day. All of our safaris are epic and never the same…..
