Union Pacific's "Big Boy 4014" steam train is making its way across Arkansas! On Monday, September 16th it will leave Little Rock at 8 AM to make it's way to Texarkana, Arkansas! It will arrive Monday afternoon and stay the night. The big steam engine departs on Tuesday morning, September 17th at 9 AM and it will be a spectacle to behold!

While Texarkana is not one of the planned public viewing stops, you will be able to see the train from outside of the tracks and along Front Street, as far as we know at this time.

Make it a great Tuesday in downtown Texarkana - the Arkansas side by arriving early to watch the train depart then enjoy breakfast at one of our great downtown restaurants: Alley Cats Coffee Bar , Emmie P's Bistro and Bakery , Johnny B's of Texarkana or Rabbit Hole .

Big Boy is coming to town again! It will arrive in the late afternoon to Texarkana, Arkansas on Monday, September 16th! It will stay overnight and depart for Dallas at 9 AM on Tuesday, September 17th.

🚂 Big Boy will be in Arkansas again starting this weekend!

A few years ago we got to see Big Boy 4014. This picture cannot capture how large this steam engine is. Big Boy will make stops, allowing you to snap some photos of it. When it came to Conway, we had to make it through a crowd to take a photo in front of it. Then we drove to a section of railroad tracks where no other people were so we could watch it pass with an unobstructed view. It doesn’t take much to entertain us. 😆

This Friday (September 13) it will come through Piggott then through next Tuesday (September 17) it will travel on to Jonesboro, Hickory Ridge, Brinkley, Pine Bluff, North Little Rock, Kingsland, and end its Arkansas tour in Texarkana. During the second Friday night of each month, downtown Texarkana comes alive a little more with the Main Street Texarkana "Main Street Live." Some of the downtown shopfronts stay open a little later for this fun night. Plus, you can see art demonstrations and live music at some spots along Broad Street.
