Wanna go for a drive? This is Atlantic Ocean Road in Norway.

This is the Storseisundet Bridge – the tallest of the road’s eight bridges, when viewed from certain angles, appears to drop off straight into the sea.

Apparently the Atlantic road had to withstand 12 hurricanes during its construction. Atlantic road is close to the cities Molde and Kristiansund in the Midwest part of the Norwegian coastline.

It is like driving on a serpentine type road twisting and turning over the sea. The curvy road dips and arches over the brutal waves of the Norwegian Sea that often crash over the pavement during storms.

The weather can play quite a role in your road trip, with the mood of the road reflecting the weather. A sunny day will give you a nice drive with the calm sea providing some tranquillity to the mind. Stormy weather too is an adventure in itself… It is not an everyday thing to experience waves lashing at you while you drive on a vast quiet road.

LĪHU‘E – Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami issues the following statement on the current wildfire emergency affecting Maui and Hawai‘i counties.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Maui and the Big Island as they continue to respond to the devastating wildfires in their communities. Seeing the images of the destruction on Maui leaves me speechless. Residents have lost their homes and businesses, and some are still unaccounted for. We pray for our first responders as well as they continue to fight to keep their island and people safe. Kaua‘i stands ready to assist our neighbor counties in any way possible and we’ll continue to stay in contact with officials on both islands throughout this disaster.”

We hope you are ready for a progress-filled week friends! Mountain Carvers carry on with cable wire and finishing saw cuts on Crazy Horse’s Arm on the Visitor Center Side. Although the Crew can operate the saws with remote control, the process is certainly not without hard work! Moving and positioning the saws as well as splitting and removing the granite fragments is labor intensive and often requires multiple Crew Members for one fragment, and a single saw cut block can easily contain several dozen of such fragments.
