Nova Scotia…
Peggy’s Cove is crowded but if you’re a lighthouse lover…you must go.

Rent a car or go on an excursion?
It’s an hour away from the Halifax cruise port. Guided excursions are not only convenient but informative. I am glad I did one.

However, the benefit of renting a car is that there are small seafood/lobster stops along the way. You can easily get lobster and lobster rolls at the Cruise port or at Peggy’s Cove. But they’re higher priced and more touristy.
It’s still worth a taste though, if journeying out on your own isn’t an option.

I was too tired after the Sandy’s Cove cruise excursion, but there are other attractions I would see on a return visit.
More coastline, fishing villages and lots to take in regarding Titanics history. The graveyard alone seemed quite interesting.

I personally would take a ride to the Anne Murray Centre just a couple hours away from the cruise port. 🙂

Interesting to know that the Boston Christmas tree is an annual gift from Halifax Canada…in honor of the assistance Bostonians offered after the 1917 Halifax explosion…the largest non nuclear explosion of all time.

So now you know where I am.
Bar Harbor Maine is all about Acadia National Park…
Tip: I would have learned a little more about the park ahead of time. It’s the 5th most visited national park in the country and steeped in so much history.

Bar Harbor, Maine is also about lobster. And lobster. And more lobster…and the best blueberry pie. Popovers also but I didn’t try one.

I would not recommend driving the park yourself if you’re only there for a port stop.
You’d spend too much time finding parking, etc.
In fact, if you can go a few dollars more for a small tour, (up to 8 people), verses a full tram or coach…this is a good place to do that. It not only saves time loading and unloading at every stop, but it’s nicer to ride the winding roads in a smaller van.

Once again…September is beautiful in New England.
