It's been too long since I've been able to do an update, but there is new news to share with more updates to come for the Bow South Expedition.
Running The Rock Weir Above The US/Mexico Border
Here is the promised video of me running the rock weir above the US/Mexico border on November 27. The spot that I ran the weir is a 3 foot drop. The front of the kayak plunged underwater almost all the way to the cockpit of a 17 foot long sea kayak.
Included in this video is a tour of what the rock weir looks like on river left and river right. I spent a minute lining up where I was going to run it next to a rock pour over a bit left of the middle of the river. When I ran the weir in 2019 I went right of the rock pour over and bent my rudder and busted a rudder cable. I was pretty weary of making the same mistake twice.
