Both feathered and non feathered #snowbirds are returning to #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida. We enjoy seeing them both on our #Islandkayaktours
After the last few months of #hurricanes, the water and shelling at #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida are getting back to normal. We are happy to be offering our #Islandkayaktours again!
Our first look at the Shell Key Preserve brought mixed emotions. The strong north wall winds of Milton damaged a lot of trees, especially north facing trees. Some of the mangrove tunnels have so many down braches and trees blocking them that I don't know if they can be cleared.
However, other tunnels, while less tree covered, are still absolutely passable and beautiful. Even more importantly, the wildlife are thriving! We saw SO MANY birds! Pelicans, osprey, laughing gulls, egrets, and all the herons. The cormorants were swimming and diving with us, the mullets were jumping, and the pin fish were all around.
Best of all, we saw no signs of red tide or other bacterial/algae growth!
The island itself is still closed to the public, but WE ARE OPEN for paddle tours of the preserve!

For those who have been on my #IslandKayakAdventures. Here is a south to north look at the island. The island took a hit from #Helene, but it is still there. You will notice the wishing tree is gone, as are the sand dunes. We are open for business here in #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida!
The #manatee mating season is in full swing at #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida. We are always excited to see them on our #Islandkayaktours
A #dolphin experience in a #kayak at #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida is my favorite! You feel so close to them on our #Islandkayaktours
As the water clears up and things get back to normal in #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida, the #dolphins return. This pod is teaching the younger calves to #hunt down #fish and to work as a #team! We enjoy watching their progress on our #Islandkayaktours
After #TropicalStormDebby, the birds are hungry! Here is a #Frigate swooping in to take a fish from this #Cormorant. They call them the bandit bird for this reason. We enjoy seeing them in #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida on our #Islandkayaktours.
A nice view at the southern tip of the island at #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida on our #Islandkayaktours
We have several #dolphin calves this year in #ShellkeyPreserve #Florida. We are so happy to see them on our #Islandkayaktours.

Yes, #dolphins really do swim in the shallow water at #ShellKey Preserve. It makes for an #unforgettable #encounter.
