The Destination Seneca County team joined fellow Ohio tourism leaders and state officials yesterday at the 2024 Ohio Chamber of Commerce Travel & Tourism Summit at the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, alongside Matt MacLaren, Director of Travel and Tourism Policy.

This impactful day highlighted how tourism goes beyond visits—it’s a driver for economic growth, community development, and attracting a skilled workforce.

Conversations and panel discussions were focused on how we can collectively promote, protect, and support Ohio’s thriving tourism landscape. We're grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and advocate for the importance of tourism in our communities!

Take a seat for creativity at the Tiffin Art Guild’s Painted Chair Auction! 🎨

This lively event will be held on November 8, 2024, at 7 PM at The Chandelier Community Event Center, located at 151 Washington Street in Downtown Tiffin. Guests will enjoy an evening filled with heavy appetizers, a cash bar, a silent auction featuring original artwork and items donated by local businesses, a live auction of uniquely painted chairs crafted by local artists, and a 50/50 raffle.

Admission is $30 and includes appetizers and a drink ticket. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tiffin Art Guild, helping to foster creativity, provide education, and offer a space for members to display and sell their work. Funds raised will go toward enhancing art programs, expanding educational opportunities, and showcasing the incredible artistic talent in Tiffin.

A special thank you to Ed & Melissa Molyet with Molyet's Farm Market & Garden Center for serving as our Grand Marshals and for their dedication to our community over the years. It was a spook-tacular time for all involved and we are so grateful to everyone who participated, attended, and helped make this parade a success!

Get ready for some spooktacular fun! 👻 The 2024 Seneca County Halloween Parade, sponsored by Brian Bower – loanDepot, is creeping up fast. Join us this Saturday, October 26, at 10 AM in Downtown Tiffin!

With nearly 100 different groups signed up, this year’s parade will be one of the largest in years. Bring those bags to catch some sweet treats and feel free to wear your costumes to show off!

The parade will feature Ed and Melissa Molyet of Molyet's Farm Market & Garden Center as our Grand Marshals! Molyet’s Farm Market, established in 1958 by Paul and Eula Mae Molyet, has been a cherished part of our community for over 60 years. Ed and Melissa continue the family tradition, offering high-quality products and exceptional service to Seneca County.

The parade will kick off at St. Joseph Catholic Church on South Washington Street and travel to the Riverside Drive intersection. Don’t miss this fun-filled community tradition!

🍂 Thursday (10/17/24): As part of the Third Thursday Series, this month's Third Thursday is the inaugural Fall Flannel Fest & Great Pumpkin Drop! From 5pm-8pm in City Lot 6, enjoy activities for all ages including...
-Axe-throwing
-Hay rides
-Crafts & bracelet making
-Opportunity for fall family photos
-Food trucks, cider, s'mores, and so much more!

At 6:30pm, the Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division will perform the Great Pumpkin Drop, for some smashing fun for all!

🍬Thursday (10/17/24): 30+ downtown Tiffin merchants have come together to sponsor a trick-or-treat as you make your way to and from Flannel Fest. There will be nearly a TON of candy to give out, so come with empty bags and a sweet tooth! Have questions about how to get to Fall Flannel Fest? These friendly, candy-passing merchants can help!

🎉Saturday (10/26/24): Make your way back to Downtown Tiffin for the 2024 Seneca County Halloween Parade beginning at 10am. Interested in participating? Sign up at TiffinParades.com.

Local businesses and organizations are welcome to pass out candy in downtown or run halloween themed specials inside their places of business following the parade, but there is no formal organization of a post-parade event. Keep some space in your bag from the parade and stroll around downtown to see what the downtown has to offer and some sweet treats may surprise you!

🎃Sunday (10/27/24): Not just in downtown, but throughout the city of Tiffin, community trick-or-treat will take place 5pm-7pm.

Everyone is invited to dress however they would like for any of these fun events! A flannel, a costume, or just your favorite fall outfit is welcome.

There is truly something for EVERYONE and so many opportunities to fall in love with spooky season this year. Thank you!

Congratulations to Denise Bell for receiving the 2024 Carol Yager Excellence in Tourism Award!

The Carol Yager Excellence in Tourism Award honors an individual who have significantly impacted tourism in Seneca County. This year, Denise Bell receives the award for her dedication to enhancing local tourism and preserving Seneca County's natural and historical treasures. As the owner of Seneca Caverns, a landmark in the region, Denise has drawn visitors from all over the world, continuing her family's legacy in tourism since 1933. Her leadership and passion reflect the same servant leadership that Carol Yager exemplified for over 40 years.

Beyond her work at Seneca Caverns, Denise has taken on key roles in regional tourism organizations. She serves as Vice Chair of the Seneca County Tourism Council and is an active member of the National Cave Association. Through her innovative thinking and commitment to community pride, Denise has helped push Destination Seneca County to new heights, ensuring that the county continues to thrive as a destination for visitors from near and far.

We are so grateful to The Advertiser-Tribune, Tiffin OH for highlighting our success at the Ohio Travel Association's Ohio Conference on Travel!

Destination Seneca County received five state-wide awards this year, including three RUBY Awards and two Citations of Excellence. This marks the third consecutive year we’ve been recognized for our work in Ohio’s tourism industry.

As Marisa Huss, our Marketing Director, shared, "Whatever you are doing, you can’t go at it alone. I always say there are some things you can’t buy or teach: Heart and Hard Work. That’s what I feel sets Seneca County aside from other communities."

The Destination Seneca County team is excited to bring home five statewide awards to Seneca County from the Ohio Travel Association’s RUBY Awards presentation!

This marks the third consecutive year we have been recognized at the state level for our contributions to Ohio’s tourism industry, having received seven RUBY Awards and four Citations of Excellence over the past three years.

We received recognition in five different categories, including Event Campaign for the Seneca County Solar Eclipse of the Heart, Annual Report for our 2023 Year in Review, and Targeted Marketing Campaign for Elope at the Eclipse. We also earned two second-place Citations of Excellence for our blog and Spirit of Community for the Out of the Dark Glow 5K & Fun event.

The Ohio Travel Association’s RUBY Awards recognize excellence in Ohio’s hospitality and tourism industry for efforts in advertising, marketing, and public relations. This year’s competition featured over 220 entries. The awards, sponsored by Ohio Magazine, were presented during the Ohio Conference on Travel, the state’s largest conference for tourism professionals.
