🐟🪝 TALBOT CHAMBER FISHING TOURNAMENT RAISES FUNDS FOR THE
TALBOT WATERMAN ASSOCIATION HARBOR SIGN PROJECT 🏆💵

The Talbot County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 8th Annual Fishing Tournament on June 4th, 2023 at Knapp’s Narrows Marina in Tilghman. Event sponsors included Easton Utilities, Shore United Bank, Sparkle Pools, and The Arc. Over 60 participants enjoyed a half-day fishing charter on the Choptank River and the Chesapeake Bay, followed by a BBQ lunch catered by Chesapeake Landing Seafood Restaurant. Winners included Lori Uncapher, onboard Captain Jason Clopper’s Chesapeake Lady II, who caught the heaviest fish of the day, snagging her the $500 top prize with a 27” rockfish weighing 6.13 pounds. Ronnie Swartz took home the $300 second place prize with his 25” rockfish weighing in at 5.12 pounds thanks to Captain Bobby Marshall and Class Act. The $200 third prize went to Gene Davis, onboard Captain Johnny Motovidlak’s Dawn Marie with his 24” rockfish weighing 4.7 pounds. Youth winner was Willie Davis, also onboard Dawn Marie, who took home $150 for his 21” rockfish weighing 3.91 pounds.
Amy Kreiner, President of the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce, presented a check for $2,000 to Jeff Harrison, President of the Talbot Waterman Association to assist with their Talbot County Harbor Sign project. At each harbor in Talbot County where watermen dock, the Talbot Waterman Association will install signs depicting the watermen’s heritage. Jeff Harrison also presented each winner with VIP tickets to the Watermen’s Appreciation Day and Crab Feast on August 13th from 10-5 at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

UPDATE TO GETTING INTO THE NARROWS FROM THE BAY SIDE
When entering Knapps Narrows from the bay keep Green markers #1 and #3 to port as usual.
You will then see temporary Red nun 4A and ahead of that Day marker 4
Go right in between the two of those leaving the Red nun to starboard and the Day marker #4 to port
This will safely get you in the Narrows with no less 6 ft at a normal low tide.
Note: All shoaling of the Bay entrance to Knapps Narrows comes from the north so if you see the depth start to diminish quickly a small adjustment toward the south should keep you in good water

KNM is looking for a Full Time Marina/Boat Yard Assistant as we enter into the Summer of 2021. We are a full-service marina, following Clean Marina standards, and are located on scenic Tilghman Island directly adjacent to the Knapp’s Narrows drawbridge (one of the busiest drawbridges on the east coast!). During the winter season, we perform many of the maintenance tasks that keep our customer’s boats running. During the summer season, we accommodate both our yearly slip renters, as well as daily slip renters, out in our slip basin as well as on the Narrows directly. We also have a 20-room Inn. Job responsibilities will include:

 Boat yard work (IE: boat maintenance and upkeep, hauling boats in and out of the water, etc.)
 Docking boats
 Prepping and painting boat bottoms
 Maintaining landscaping (mowing, weeding, etc.)
 General Maintenance (changing lightbulbs, performing upkeep tasks, pool maintenance, etc.)
 General Labor

This is a very hands-on job. Most work will be performed outside, rain or shine (with access to climate controlled buildings).
Prior experience is a bonus, but we will train anyone who is willing to learn and work diligently. Previous applicants need not apply.
