The pandemic of 2020 had an abrupt impact on all of our lives. While most of us are slowly working toward a new sense of normalcy, a ripple effect on the print music industry is still making waves. Just before the new year, the Lorenz Corporation announced that they were ceasing operations in Dayton, Ohio. Over the last four months, GIA Publications in Chicago, Illinois has taken over the printing and shipping operations of the Lorenz Corporation. This transition has resulted in significantly increased lead times for all Lorenz and GIA imprints, including, but not limited to:
GIA Publications, Walton Music, World Library Publications, Lorenz Corporation, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Heritage Music, and World Church and Music Resources. Just last month, C.F. Peters announced that they, too, were ceasing operations in New York. Over the next few months, most imprints distributed by C.F. Peters will be moving to Alfred Music. This includes Edition Peters, Musica Baltica, and Broude Brothers, among others. As part of this transition, Oxford University Press will no longer be distributed by C.F. Peters. We anticipate similar delays in the coming months with procurement of these products. Our team will be working closely with these suppliers to minimize the impact on our customers. If you have time-sensitive requirements for any of these publications, please communicate directly with our staff so that we can coordinate timely deliveries. Thank you in advance for your patience with these transitions.
