TRIVIA HINT - For years I have worn a neckerchief slide in honor of the first restaurant in the Tombstone area, opened by Joseph Isaac “Ike” Clanton in 1878, a year before the townsite of Tombstone was founded. Great job Pamela Fuller Potter, you were first to come up with the answer to the trivia question, name of Ike’s restaurant?

CITY OF TOMBSTONE GRANTS DEAD MAN’S WISH

Before this history is lost forever, I want to share a story about Glenn Will, born in 1871, died in 1953, and put to rest in Boothill Graveyard in Tombstone, Arizona.

Oddly enough, Glenn Will never lived in Tombstone. In fact, Glenn had never even visited Tombstone, but always wanted to. When Glenn Will passed in 1953, his son sent his ashes COD to the city of Tombstone. The city paid $1.92 to accept the package. Shorty after Glenn’s ashes arrived, he got his wish and was buried in Boothill Graveyard.

Today’s pamphlet that the graveyard sells when folks visit Boothill, no longer includes Glenn Will’s story, so I thought I’d pass it along before it’s lost. See a complete list of people buried in Boothill online at http://BoothillGraveyard.com

First at 4:30am and again at 6:06am. The app I’m using is Satellite Tracker for iPhone. Download it and watch the ISS flyover your neck of the world!

140 years ago at this very moment, 30 shots rang out in a vacant lot behind the OK Corral and these three men were hurled into eternity, murdered in the streets of Tombstone by City Marshal Virgil Earp, deputies Wyatt Earp and Morgan Earp along with their gambling drunk friend, Doc Holliday. Dead were 19 year old Billy Clanton, Tom McLaury and Frank McLaury.

The Earp brothers and Doc Holliday were charged with murder but never faced a jury trial, instead an inquest was held by a judge who was an Earp family friend and the case was dropped.

Still very controversial 140 years later, this famous and deadly gunfight is what keeps Tombstone alive with tourism today.

Ike Clanton’s Haunted Hotel “Tombstone Ghosts and Legends Tour” walk-through attraction now features a display of the famous all-night poker game in the actual room where the argument began, with narration by Terry Ike Clanton. Don’t miss the cow-boys side of the story when you visit Tombstone!
