Happy Tuesday!

This travel tip is brought to you from a very personal (and painful) sunburn I am currently experiencing after forgetting sunscreen during my excursion in Nassau, Bahamas.

Things I told myself:
"It'll be fine."
"I'll just stay in the shade as much as possible."
"I can cover my shoulders with my swim suit cover in between stops."
"There's a lot of cloud cover anyway."

The reality:
It is not fine.
I DID stay in the shade as much as possible, I DID cover my shoulders in between stops, and there WAS a lot of cloud cover. I spent a cumulative 2-3 hours in the actual sun, and promptly was called a "Red Lobster" by fellow passenger when we got back on the boat (and not discounting all of the wide-eyed and/or wincing side glances I got the rest of the trip).

Don't forget your sunscreen. And if you do forget it, find some. Will it cost an arm and a leg buying it from your cruise? Yep. Will it be worth it? Yep.

In case you needed a sign to go on a 1-on-1 vacation with your kid, HERE IT IS. 🏳️📢

This past weekend I was able to get away with my daughter on a short cruise, just the two of us. It gave us a beautiful opportunity to unplug, unwind, and focus on our relationship without distractions or anything pulling our attention in other directions.

I know it meant the world to me, and I hope it will be a happy memory that she can carry with her. ❤

Happy Tuesday from Nassau, Bahamas!

When you’re in a cruise port, it is very important to know where you’re going.

Cruise ports can be hectic, people and signs EVERYWHERE.

If you book excursions through your cruise: They can tell you exactly where to go and when. Uniformed employees will be standing by to help and guide you.

If you book an excursion 3rd party: Have an address and time for where you need to meet. And make sure to have your confirmation email ready to show! If you need assistance look for security personnel, ask your cruise staff before you get off the ship, or look for guest services booths. Stay safe and use a reputable and SAFE company!

If you are just exploring: Have an idea where you want to go or explore, ask your cruise staff where is safe and what transportation companies to use.

The two most important factors:
1. STAY SAFE
2. BE BACK TO YOUR SHIP ON TIME OR EARLY.

We're going vulnerable today. ⬇️

I used to always be SO self conscious when picking outfits for my vacations. Always worried about looking too "touristy", worried about showing too much skin, worried about my weight, my hair.. the list goes on. With a lot of growth (and about a million confidence boosters from my lovely wife ❤️), I have finally reached a point where I just don't care what anyone else thinks of my outfits and let me tell you... it is REFRESHING.

I had a lot of fun with my Hawaii outfits and even bought another one while I was there. Vacations can be a great opportunity to get dressed up and be creative. Don't worry about what other people think! Confidence is key. ☀🌴

Happy Tuesday!

When visiting Hawaii, take care to respect their local customs and culture. Here are some ways you can do it:

☀️Learn some common phrases in the native language
☀️Support local businesses rather than sticking to large food chains/name brand stores
☀️Respect the land by cleaning up after yourself and following the rule of "leave it better than you found it"
☀️Be sure to follow any signage or guidance provided
☀️Seek out cultural and historical activities and take some time to learn about the islands

Here is my choice of Hawaiian island and WHY:

My favorite island... OAHU! And here is why.

🏠Accommodations: There are a ton of hotels and resorts to choose from, and they fit every budget.

⚓️Activities: There is SO MUCH to do on Oahu. Potentially unpopular opinion, but I love tourist attractions, and there is no shortage of them here. 🤷‍♀️

🍔Convenience: The more populated the area, the more amenities you have at your fingertips. I personally enjoy having a large variety of shopping and dining within walking distance, which is why the Waikiki area is my favorite!

Something I get asked a lot is which Hawaiian island is the best option. So here are some key attributes of each island to help you make a decision:

🌴Oahu: Tourist friendly, more attractions, best for night life, better option for budget, urban feel, most populated

🌴Maui: Still tourist friendly, more laid back, decent amount of activities, some budget friendly options, stunning beaches and coast lines

🌴Kauai: Very calm, nature oriented, serene atmosphere, lush greenery, secluded beaches, scenic landscape, higher budget

🌴Hawaii (Big Island): Good for adventurers, diverse ecosystems, volcanoes, rugged landscapes, middle of the road for budget

🌴Lanai & Molokai: Minimal tourism, less activities, very secluded, authentic, and slow paced, few lodging options, no major airports (either connecting flights from Maui or Oahu or by ferry)

*These are based on my own opinions and interpretations of the different islands.*

3 things you may not know about cruise embarkation days (boarding day/day 1)! ⬇️🛳

1. Your stateroom may not be ready when you board. Staterooms are generally available for you to enter sometime in the afternoon. Take this time to explore the ship!
2. Your checked luggage will be delivered to your room later in the day and may take several hours to get to you.
3. All passengers must participate in a safety drill before sailing. Don't miss it!

My advice:
Take essentials like swimming suits and sunscreen with you in a backpack or carry-on. If you don't want to carry a bag around with you while you wait for your room to be ready, just make sure you board the cruise ready to go! 😊

When visiting Hawaii, consider attending a luau! Aside from its obvious beauty, Hawaii is rich with culture and history. Experience Hawaii's authentic nature and experience a deepened connection to the islands by attending a luau on your next visit.

My favorite souvenirs are PINS and MAGNETS. They are cheap, small, and light meaning they won't take up much room or weight in my bags!

Drumroll please... 🥁

This November, Kelsie and I will be staying at..... Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter!!! 🥳 Read on for the top 3 reasons WHY we chose this resort.

1. Size. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is one of the smaller Walt Disney World resorts. For me, smaller means less walking, cozy, quiet, and easy to navigate.

2. Stay at one, play at two! Guests staying at EITHER of the Port Orleans resorts have access to pools and amenities at both French Quarter and Riverside.

3. MICKEY BEIGNETS! This resort is home of the famous Mickey Mouse shaped beignets. I can't wait to have these every day of my trip. 😍🤤

Hawaii is a tropical location, therefore it is not uncommon to see sporadic rain showers. But don't worry! Generally these showers will not last long, and if you are prepared and know what to expect then it won't impact your vacation.

How to make Disney dining reservations! ⬇️ Character dining and specialty dining at the Disney parks are such a fun and unique experience, but first, you have to get a reservation. To DIY: 🗓 Reservations open for booking at 6:00 am (local time for whichever park you're booking at) 60 days before your park day, or 60 days before you check in if you're staying on site at a Disney Resort. ⏱Certain restaurants will fill up within SECONDS, so you have to know what you're looking for and be fast! 💳 My advice: be on the website ready to go about 15 minutes early. Make sure you are logged in and have your payment method saved to your account. If you are my client: 📱You'll receive a reminder text a few days before your dining reservations open. 💬 We will discuss options and details, I'll give my recommendations, and we will make decisions. 🧘‍♀️You sit back and relax, and I'll take care of the rest.
