Nature's Neighbors in the National Parks

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Okay, maybe not lions and tigers in U.S. national parks, but you get the idea! Hiking through these protected lands means stepping into wildlife’s home and witnessing nature’s little surprises.

While hiking in Shenandoah National Park, I spotted a marbled orb weaver spider, a tiny, unexpected wonder enjoying the day just like I was. It’s moments like these that make each hike unique!

Next time you hit the trails, keep an eye out—you never know what fascinating creature you might meet!

Let's take a look back at some my favorite posts from this year. Here's one from October 7.

Exploring National Parks in California

California has 9 National Parks, the most of any state: Redwood, Lassen Volcanic, Pinnacles, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, and Channel Islands. These parks are part of the 30 National Parks I’ve visited, and they range from desert to sea, tall mountains to below sea level. Each one is unique and beautiful in its own way, but Yosemite keeps calling me back—six times, in fact. Some features, like Scotty's Castle at Death Valley, have been closed for repair for several years. I feel lucky that I was able to see it. Which is your favorite California National Park?

Let's take a look back at some my favorite posts from this year. Here's one from October 21.

Utah’s five National Parks—Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches—are collectively known as the Mighty 5. I had the chance to visit all five during a two-week road trip, starting from Los Angeles. My first stop was Zion, followed by Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and ending with the stunning hoodoos of Bryce Canyon.

Out of the five, Arches is my favorite. There’s something incredible about standing in front of nature's giant rock arches, each one uniquely carved over time. It's amazing how nature creates these awesome formations in one place.

Back in 2011, when I visited Zion for the first time, I hiked the legendary Angels Landing without needing a reservation. I’ll never forget the thrill of that narrow trail! For a quieter, less-traveled experience in Zion, I highly recommend heading out to Kolob Canyons. The vibrant red rocks will leave you in awe—without the crowds!

Have you been to any of Utah’s Mighty 5? Which one is your favorite?

As summer winds down and Labor Day marks the unofficial end of the season, I can’t help but reminisce about my incredible summer vacations. It all started at Yosemite National Park. Vernal Fall was gushing. As you can see, I was in the splash zone. Yosemite Falls was on full blast. I made it up to Columbia Rock. Look, there was still a speck of snow left on top of Half Dome! After a day of hiking, my Yosemite home was the Curry Village cabin. Hi! It's me again, Dora, your favorite travel advisor. I was in beautiful Asheville, NC, for the Adventure Travel Trade Association's Elevate conference. I learned a lot about the travel industry and met a lot of adventure tour companies. I'm equipped with more knowledge to make your adventure vacations even more adventurous.

I took a break from all the learning to try whitewater rafting. As you can see, I killed it.🤣

I went whale watching while in Hawaii. A great spot is Makapuu on the east side of Oahu. I saw a good number of whales. This picture is the view I was looking at while whale watching just a couple of weeks ago.

What’s outside your window? Too much snow or rain? Contact me today to get you out of the snow and into sunny Hawaii.
