Get ready for Litchfield's 4th annual Top Dog best hot dog contest!

During the Dog Days of Summer every July restaurants in the Town of Litchfield CT create special hot dogs (traditional, creative, deconstructed ... ) in a friendly competition to be named Top Dog based on voting by those devour the dogs.

Bill Downes and Gooseboro Drive-In LLC. won the first Top Dog contest in 2021 and won again last summer, with Jackie's Restaurant taking home the trophy in 2022.

This year's contest runs from July 14 to 17 and the winner (or "weiner" as locals like to say) will be announced at the Litchfield CT Park & Recreation free evening concert on the Green July 17. (The band is , Matt & Co.)

My friends, as the auto and home insurance world seeing huge increases, many people are shocked to know that when you use "ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE" from your auto insurance, it is a claim, reported to the National reporting service CLUE! The carrier paid money, it is not a gift from the heavens, it was an expense to the carrier ( the person answering the phone, the person dispatching, the person paying the bill, plus the bill itself!! It all adds up. While in CT the carrier can only report the amount paid for the service, the lost will affect your results with other carriers if you shop! THE COMPANY PAID MONEY, SO IT IS REPORTED AS A CLAIM EXPENSE!!! don't belive me? GOOGLE IT AND READ THE RESULTS!!! OR HERE IS CLARK HOWARD'S RESPONSE-

In the event when you need roadside assistance, there’s a surefire way to hurt your wallet: calling your car insurance company.

FYI- If an auto insurance pays for something for you, its a claim to every other company!! "towing/ roadside assistance" is added to many policies; However, it is not like AAA!.

Every $ spent is reported to the big brother clue system. Other carriers look at this and say- 3 hits, true only 100 or less but could been worse- and today they decline to offer you a quote.

AAA and similar roadside policies, not part of an auto policy - nothing reported. no penalty.

There is a good reason to never use carrier provided roadside assitance unless you are involved in an accident. Cause the small dollars spent will bite you big time in the wallet!!!
