Join us on a memorable holiday trip to the City by the Sea, Newport, RI. Holiday traditions tend to look to the past, evoking images of candles flickering in the windows of snow-dusted Colonial farmhouses, gas-lit Victorian streets reminiscent of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, or the peaceful slumber of a New England seaport town buttoned up for winter. In Newport, each of these holiday fantasies comes to life in a month-long celebration that’s been lighting up the town for nearly half a century. From tree lightings to hot cocoa-fueled ice skating and with halls decked in holly and much more.
The central part of our trip will take you back to the Gilded Age with the Holidays at the Newport Mansions. The Breakers, Marble House and The Elms will welcome us with spectacular holiday displays. Nearly 30 Christmas trees are exquisitely decorated to complement the décor and theme of each room, like Mr. Vanderbilt’s tree in The Breakers, ornamented with trains and top hats! Hundreds of poinsettias, garlands, wreaths and fresh floral arrangements add color, warmth and life. As always, the 15-foot-tall poinsettia tree in the Great Hall of The Breakers – made up of 150 poinsettia plants – provides a perfect holiday photo opportunity.
The cost of the trip is $500 per person based on double occupancy. A $150 deposit is due within 3 weeks of reservation. All final payments due no later than October 15th.
