You can enjoy a relaxing day just lounging around or there are plenty of options if you want to explore. Deer sightings are a daily treat as well as occasional wild turkey. There are no homes across the river, so you can enjoy

Fanning Springs and Manatee Springs State Parks, offer beautiful swimming holes and picnic areas; both accessible by boat or car. By car, nearby Hart and Otter Springs are privately owned and offer swimming/picnic areas as well. For longer day trips you can enjoy the Ichetucknee Springs State Park or the Beautiful Rainbow river for tubing. Due south, Crystal river is about a 60 minute uncongested drive. Lots of great restaurants, , Kayak tours and multiple springs and parks there as well. To the southwest, the quaint town of Cedar Key is a quiet back road drive. You can rent a golf cart to see the island or enjoy one of the many local excursions offered. After your Cedar Key visit, grab a bite on the Suwannee River at the Treasure Camp in Fowlers Bluff. If you head northeast to downtown Highsprings, known as 'Gateway to the Springs" you'll find old Florida Charm with quaint shops and restaurants lining main street. Visit Ginnie Springs here as well as, Poe Springs and Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park. Along the western shore, Horseshoe Beach, the town of Suwannee, and Steinhatchee ("Hatch" to the locals) are the gateways to the Gulf. Enjoy a private fishing charter or just go grab a bite and get a feel of true "Old Florida". Scallop season is always a great experience. Let's not forget, Gainesville is only 30 miles due east. One visit and you'll see why it's nicknamed "the city of trees". It's also home to the University of Florida, where Gator sports are always a fun time. There are museums, nature walks, and historic places to visit; easily filling a full day. If biking or hiking is your thing, the Suncoast nature trail provides 32 miles of paved scenic enjoyment, all within walking distance of the home. Oh, don't forget your clubs for a round of golf at the nearby Chiefland course. There are even local Pickleball games where everyone is welcome. Lots of great local restaurants serving up home-cooked meals and a few offer all-you-can-eat Friday night seafood. If you want farm-fresh local eggs, we got you covered and we can hook you up with the best prime cuts of beef from our local cattle farmer Qunicey Cattle Company, for your family cookout or gameday tailgating. The Nature Coast is a hidden Florida gem. Once you experience our quiet laid back lifestyle, we are sure you'll return again and again. There is 1 1/2 mile of well-maintained grade road to access the property. With only 7 properties and a 300 acre conservation area across the street, you are sure to enjoy secluded river life. The river is calling; come stay for a while.
