I just read an interesting article on AAA - they do not have very good reviews across multiply on-line sites.... The article also notes that AAA does "NOT" charge "COMMISION" - which is common practice for almost all agents/agencies within the travel industry... Commissions are typically paid for by our preferred suppliers - Airlines, Hotels, Car Rentals, Cruise Lines, Entertainment attractions, Transfer companies and others travel suppliers - Travel supplier - suppliers such as Apple Vacations - Delta Vacations - Sandals & Beaches - Disney and all the others - Suppliers pay travel agents commission based on agreements with travel agents/suppliers/providers around the global. If a travel agent offers "special services" such as managing a "Group" i.e. Weddings - Generational Family Travel - Adventure Travel - Affinity Groups - Milestone Celebration Travel and more... The two parties (Agent to Client) may agree to a fee for planning services - but - not commission fees... Fees are not hidden from clients and must be reported as income...AAA travel advisors are hourly employees with AAA. FYI: I am a member of AAA have been for years - but - I would not use their travel services for anything other than a TripTix...Which are great for road trips... Oh I also love their monthly magazines...Please Note" All Independent travel agents have "preferred suppliers" and "tour operators" that they work "hand-in hand" with as they work together to generate the prefect dream vacations/get-aways for their clients to ensure a accurate, well-planned and detailed itinerary - for their clients...
