Winter Fly Fishing Clinic! Roughly 15 years ago, California incorporated new fishing regulations that opened up many Sierra rivers in California to year round fly fishing. I’ve been fishing and guiding the waters in the Truckee area before and after these changes and with that knowledge I’m going to be hosting a series of winter fly fishing clinics. One will be coming up in December, and another in February. We’ll go over the flies I like to use to match the winter hatches, fish behavior, locations and access challenges and a variety of other tricks to get to good spots on the river, no matter the season. I’ll also be providing a few handouts and some free custom flies for the clinic! I had a special guide trip for me. I’m a fly fishing guide, but I’ve been learning hunting basics in my spare time the last 5-10 years. I got to take a hunting guide out fly fishing and hear what his world is like. Lots of similarities. Jeff was a great listener and had a helluva day.
