Meet Lizvette Villafaña, one of our Scientists in Parks (SIP) interns arriving this May. Lizvette received her Bachelor's in Astrophysics from UCLA and Master's in Aerospace Engineering from USC. Passionate about astronomy, she returned to UCLA for her PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics, focusing her research on supermassive black holes, and is set to graduate in June 2024.

Announcing the call for poems for the 2019 Astro Poetry Contest. Poems can be submitted anytime until April 14, 2019. Winners will be announced on April 22, 2019 and awards will be given on April 27, 2019. We are so thankful that The Discovery will again host the award ceremony and Celestron Telescopes will donate telescopes and binoculars for prizes.

Please see the contest flier for rules and information, and please share with your friends and teachers.

This July will be the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing!!
